Beverly LW Sunn Speaker at SOAS China Institute University of London
Beverly LW Sunn, Founder & President of Asia Pacific Properties & APP Mobility and Board Chairman of OKAY.com was honored to speak at the Annual China Debate organized by SOAS China Institute, University of London on 29 June 2015.
This year, the theme of the debate was "How Healthy Is China?". The event focused on discussing the key drivers of China’s growth, and its key challenges – food security, energy supply, environmental sustainability, GDP growth, international trade, income inequality and other political, economic and social forces.
Beverly shared her on-the-ground insights on how the value system of people in China has changed in tandem with China’s dramatic developments over the last 25 years, and how rising incomes and technology have created the social conditions for China to overcome its “challenges” in the years ahead.
Beverly was joined on the panel by Ms Isabel Hilton, acclaimed journalist and founder of the environmental NGO chinadialogue.net, and Prof Andrew Walder, PhD and professor at the School of Humanities and Sciences at Stanford University. The discussion was moderated by Sir Christopher Hum, former UK ambassador to China 2002-2005.
