The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (often abbreviated to RBKC) 

  • RBKC is a central London borough located in West London. It is the wealthiest borough in England and home to several of London's main tourist attractions and landmarks.
  • With respect to transport RBKC is served by 12 tube stations and 6 of the 12 London underground lines.
  • It contains a number of city centre facilities including universities (Imperial College), major museums and is famous for its department stores such as Harrods and Harvey Nichols.
  • Home to several Embassies in its Belgravian, Knightsbridge and Kensington Gardens districts, it also contains many of the most exclusive residential districts in London, which are also some of the most expensive in the world.

The City of Westminster

  • The City of Westminster occupies much of the central area of London including most of the West End. It is located to the west of and adjoining the ancient City of London, directly to the east of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and its southern boundary is the River Thames.
  • Many leading global corporations have chosen to locate their global or European headquarters in the City of Westminster. Mayfair and St.James’s also have a large concentration of hedge funds and private equity funds.
  • The West End is known as the Theatre District and is home to many of the leading performing arts businesses.
  • In terms of transport the borough is well connected being served by 27 tube stations, and 10 of the 11 Underground lines. This allows not only residents and visitors to travel conveniently in the area but also students who attend the many first class universities in the borough (King’s College, LSE, Imperial College).
